Consolidations affecting some exempt positions
The Transportation Department announced today an organizational realignment that resulted in the elimination of 38 exempt manager of corridor operations (MCO) positions.
As part of this realignment, Coal Superintendents will assume the duties formally assigned to the Coal MCOs, and the Chief Dispatchers will take on the remaining responsibilities from the additional eliminated MCO positions. A total of 21 MCO positions will remain, and those employees will maintain their role of crew positioning, although there may be adjustments to geographical responsibility.
“As we work to align resources with the reality of current volumes, we have evaluated our organizational structure to ensure we are operating as efficiently as possible,” said Dave Freeman, senior vice president, Transportation. “Unfortunately, the outcome can affect people, and our thoughts are certainly with those employees affected by this recent realignment.”
Transportation leaders are working with impacted employees to assist them through this transition.
