2nd Half Guarantee Handling - Former ATSF territories

Dear General Chairmen for former SF territories,

Please be reminded that second half February only has 13 working days this year (2018). On the former SF, the guarantee extra board daily rate remains the same regardless of the number of days in the half. This short half tends to cause some confusion regarding guarantee calculation in some cases.

Please see the examples below for additional details:

1. Employee is assigned to the same extra board for the whole half

Employee is eligible for the full half rate (15 days)

Less any layoff offsets and working offsets

2. Employee is assigned to two different extra boards for the whole half

Employee is eligible for the daily rate of that board for the number of days available

  • Board 1 2/16-2/20 (5 days at the daily rate of board 1)

  • Board 2 2/21 -2/28 (8 days at the daily rate of board 2)

  • Eligible for 13 days total

  • Less any layoff/working offsets

3. Employee is assigned to one extra board for part of the half

Employee is eligible for the daily rate of that board for the number of days available

  • Board 1 2/16-2/20 (5 days at the daily rate of board 1)

  • Less any layoff offset and working offsets

  • Assigned to a permanent assignment 2/21-2/28 – not guaranteed

  • Eligible for 5 days total

  • Less any layoff/working offsets

An employee must be assigned to a single extra board for the entire half in order to be eligible for the full 15 day rate.

Some manual and automated processes are preformed to ensure that employees eligible for the full 15 day rate correctly receive that eligible amount. This process will not be complete until the end of the half. If employees have any questions regarding their guarantee calculations at the end of the half, please have them submit their inquiry through Ask Comp Systems.
